His Lordship Bishop Paul Hinder OFM Cap, Apostolic Vicar of Southern Arabia,

His Lordship Bishop Francis Kalist, Bishop of Meerut, India;

The Episcopal adviser of CCR India and ICCRS Council Member,

Br. Cyril John, Chairperson – ICCRS Sub-Committee for Asia-Oceania

And members of National Service Teams from Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait

The meeting was initiated to pray, plan and discern the next GCCRS Conference as well to address the concerns and challenges of the renewal in the GCC.

Bishop Francis Kalist recollected for all that in 2008, the 1st GCCRS conference was held in UAE from 7th to 9th December with the Theme “Let the Fire Fall again “where 1500 participants from 6 Gulf countries had gathered. Later the 2nd GCCRS conference was held in Kuwait with the Theme “ Put out into the deep” in 2011 from 6th to 8th November where 2750 charismatics of 6 Gulf countries met. The 3rd conference was held in Oman in 2014, with the Theme “My Peace I give to you” from John 14:27

Bro. Cyril John, also gratefully acknowledged the support received from both Bishops of Arabia for the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in the region and shared his views about hosting the next GCCRS Conference. After prayerful consideration, it was agreed to host the 4th GCCRS conference in Kuwait in 2019.

His Lordship Bishop Camillo Ballin also exhorted the members to return to their roots and remember “I the Lord God” as we are living in times of insecurity especially more predominantly in the Middle East. We are reminded that we are not alone and so need to declare our dependence on HIM more than ever. His Grace Bishop Paul Hinder encouraged all to work towards unity and peace.

Bishop Francis Kalist exhorted the members to keep the flame of the renewal ablaze and reminded that the members that our conferences must consider always the goals of the Charismatic Renewal

After much thought and discernment, it was decided that Ephesians 4:3 “Called to Serve in Unity & Peace” will be the Theme of the 4th GCCRS Conference, held in Kuwait in 2019.

We are grateful for the pastoral leaders of our Bishops, Bro. Cyril John and the cooperation of our brethren of the GCCRS. We believe we can expect great things as we continue to remember the call to unity and peace, which is where God commands his blessing (Psalm 133:1). Certainly, a time of great harvest and maturity is here as we lean forward to the prompting of the Holy Spirit.

May the inspiration, power and grace of the Holy Spirit be upon ICCRS, ISAO and Kuwait National Service Team and the leaders of other GCC countries as they plan this conference ahead. May the Lord accomplish His work through the resource persons and may all charismatics have an opportunity to be present for the graceful gathering.
